Recently, I saw a video online of a “reunion” of Destiny’s Child at one of Beyonce’s “Cowboy Carter” tour dates. It was a video posted on July 27th of Beyonce bringing out Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland at her Las Vegas show. Just from the volume of the video alone, it sounded like the crowd was absolutely going crazy. (Lester, 2025). I mean, the crowd was basically screaming “Lose My Breath” when they started playing it. Not even for a second while all three girls were out it was quiet, unless they were doing the “Mute” challenge. Nonetheless, it looked like everyone in the crowd was having a blast when the group reunited. Even after the Las Vegas show, there was plenty of buzz online about the possibility of a reunion tour, so why not have one? Additionally, if there was a tour, how much money could it make?
With the excitement surrounding the show, tickets could potentially be in high demand. Online, videos from Las Vegas were trending online and reached millions of views. Specifically, the video by “Shot by Lester” on Tiktok reached 2.1 million views with 243.8 thousand likes. With videos of them reaching millions of views online, the craze around them returning to the stage together is noticeable, by fans and non-fans alike. Even on their official Instagram, @destinyschild, fans were in the comments of an official post about Beyonce’s Las Vegas show discussing a potential reunion tour. “We need a comeback tour”, “We want a DC3 reunion tour ❤️”, and “It was so nostalgic to see them back together killing it” were just some of the comments left under the post. Here, you can just see a glimpse of the demand that fans are discussing over a reunion tour. If multiple fans across platforms are begging for a potential tour, tickets in major cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas will be in demand because of the desire expressed.
Oftentimes, reunion tours bring in much profit for the performers and their management. Let’s take the “Spice Girls” as an example of a reunion tour. Specifically, “The Return of the Spice Girls Tour” that was from December 2007 to February 2008. Although this tour was back in the early 2000’s, it can still be used as an example of a popular girl group returning to the stage. The tour grossed over 70 million dollars with over 500,000 tickets being sold. (Redkar 2024). Even though the band officially disbanded in 2001, they were still able to gain millions from their tour after 6 years. Additionally, 12 years later the girl group had another tour, the “Spice World Tour”, minus the member “Posh Spice” (Victoria Beckham). (Redkar 2024). This tour did even better, selling over 700,000 tickets and grossing over 78 million dollars in revenue. So, even after 18 years of being officially disbanded, the Spice Girls were still able to gross millions in tour revenue. This potentially means for Destiny’s Child, who officially disbanded in 2006, could have a similar possibility of generating millions in sales because they are just as, or even more, popular as the Spice Girls are.
However, selling out a tour could be daunting, especially since it has been years since they have officially performed a tour together. Management and labels could be uneasy about selling out a tour, since thousands of tickets need to be sold to be considered a “success”. So, if there is some anxiety around a full tour, a residency could be an option! A residency is a series of concerts/events, which would be similar to a show on a tour, but it’s only performed in one location for a period of time. Most commonly, artists will perform a residency in Las Vegas, since it’s a popular tourist spot with many established venues. This is a common pathway for artists and bands who don’t want to do a full tour. For example, the boy group New Kid On The Block held a Las Vegas residency at the Dolby Live Theater from June 20th to July 5th 2025. During this period, they had 8 shows. Currently, there is no public information about how much they made from this period, yet it can be estimated. According to TicketSmarter, ticket prices for their next period of residency in Las Vegas are around $100 for the cheapest ticket. As well, the Dolby Live Theater in Las Vegas roughly uses 5,000 seats each show, but how many seats used varies on the show. Assuming that each ticket is $100 and all 5,000 seats were being used, NKOTB would gross over 500 thousand USD in ticket sales before taxes. So, for 8 shows they have already performed, it is estimated that they have grossed 4 millions USD in ticket sales. Although this may seem like a low number, NKOTB is only halfway through their residency. Additionally, $100 dollars is the lowest ticket price possible. The majority of the tickets are higher, ranging from 100-900 dollars.
If Destiny’s Child were to do a similar residency, it is likely that tickets will be in higher demand due to the smaller size of a venue. So, ticket prices could be higher or seats would sell out faster to the volume of demand. With doing over 10 shows at the Dolby Live Theater in Las Vegas, the group could easily gross over 10 million USD in ticket sales if they did not want to perform a full tour at stadiums or arenas. NKOTB is not estimated to be an “in-demand” group compared to Destiny’s Child, so it would be safer to assume that the girl group could generate more profit than estimated for NKOTB.
If Destiny’s Child were to do a reunion tour or residency, it is very likely that it would generate huge amounts of profit because a tour would be in high demand and these kinds of tours often do well. From the discussions online to past girl groups succeeding with reunion tours, Destiny’s Child would have no problem generating millions in ticket sales, no matter if they have multiple shows across the United States, or only a couple shows in Las Vegas. I know multiple fans from the Las Vegas show of the Cowboy Carter tour would be happy to see a full performance reunion of Destiny’s Child.
